Cherry Pies 04:22
we made cherry pies and sat them on the window sill go outside to run and hide, till' Mom called us home for the evening meal we'd sit under daddy oak and share our dreams and things over the years I realized you had less and less to share with me you said one night: when I grow up I want to be a better man. throw my son a ball, and hold his mother's hand find a way to make the days resolve on a better note I want to make my love soar 'cause all it does now is float in the spring i'd go out, and sit under the April Rain grab a journal & pen and let the evening pick my brain. I always thought of you the way you see the world intrigues me so I'll watch where you walk and decide i'll follow when I grow up I want to be a better man. Throw my son a ball, and hold his mother's hand find a way to make the days resolve on a better note I want to make my love soar 'cause all it does now is float now we're grown up and we've started families I want to tell you all the things i'm noticing the way my daughter plays the way I can say anything to make her smile im a lucky man i can do the same with my bride and the memories come flooding in when she makes her cherry pies

April Rain 03:38
april rain is falling harder than it did this time last year did this time last year momma birds are calling for their babies to tell them the coast's clear tell them the coast's clear the scent of pine is thick, it's stronger than a thousand candles in the summer sun candles in the summer sun i'll crawl into the attic and watch it pour like falling shells of a shot gun shells of a shotgun and i miss you come home soon if you close your eyes, you can hear the river sing to her maker sing to her maker while the mountains sigh reverberates across this clouded green acre clouded green acre its bitter cold outside but warm enough to go out and waste the day thinking waste the day thinking with the pathway as a guide ill walk the valley while the daylight is shrinking daylight is shrinking and i miss you come home soon and nighttime comes like a kiss from the angel who hold back your pain and brings on the april rain

iles of green outside the family farm where beads of purple, were pressed into wine "son a small drink won't do any harm" i'd raise my hand and smile, "no thanks, I'm fine" we spent our summers on the italian plains at age fourteen i never thought about it much but this mans love for his trade ran through his veins those grapes begged to be picked, they longed for his touch and that drink, oh my gosh i've never tasted something so sweet before i taste 73' it was the time you got mad at me, for breaking your window i taste 84' the time you fell through the floor, lord that was so long ago i taste 92' i taste the years with you You worked my little hands to the bone back then pouring every drop into its vile i'd trade it all for a chance to pour again so we could sit and talk, then drink for awhile and that drink, oh my gosh i've never tasted something so sweet before i taste 78' we'd spent time trying to fix that gate with the old tub of glue i taste 85' the year you gave me your pocket knife, oh and some stitches too i taste 2002, i taste the years with you. and through the passing of time age settles the score better is the wine and i grow to miss you more i taste 73' it was the time you got mad at me... i taste 73' it was the time you got mad at me, for breaking your window i taste 84' the time you fell through the floor, lord that was so long ago i taste 92' i taste the years with you

Santa Fé 04:58
pink bricks layer in city streets billows of smoke heaven bound we walk the roads of Santa Fé such a strange but lovely town the mountains watch this city like angels did the son of man lets sow all of our joy spent here and reap it when we can we could start a family maybe ten years from now tell them what we cherished here maybe teach them how to breathe the mountain air or praise the painted sky wake up early in the morn' to hear the blackbirds gentle cry in Santa Fé the moon's a fingernail above this stucco house casting light upon the darkness and i still can't figure out the way it bathes my skin in white and soaks my mind in peace it makes life sweeter than the taste of my wildest dreams we could start a family maybe 10 years from now tell them what we cherished here maybe teach them how to breathe the mountain air or praise the painted sky wake up early in the morn' to hear the blackbirds gentle cry in Santa Fé

Daniel 04:27
the clouds above spell out my name above the forest line the leaves seem to have lost their place like i've lost mine Daniel left his pub he's searching for something else to find complains he's had enough of people stealing off his time but then he saw the rain glitter in the night he said he'd do it all again he'd see with different eyes as i walk the lonely path through the forest by the creek i have trouble looking back at what the world doesn't see but i'll trust in something more while the stars shine brilliantly i wonder if we'll go back to the way things used to be where simple was the math and every bitter heart turned sweet i guess i'll find myself from the outside, looking out in sickness or in health this thing spins on without a doubt but i have seen the rain and its brighter than the sun i've forgotten all the pain and i've remembered how to run as i walk the lonely path through the forest by the trees i saw the world tip his hat tilt his head and take a seat we found the sun behind the trees as he put his life back in the leaves and i swear i saw Daniel sitting down smiling at me

about

In an age of rapidity and constant progress, Saige Cross' debut EP "The Sound of Trees" focuses on a more minimalistic attitude. "There is something so beautiful in the sounds that the Earth makes; natural sounds like the wind rushing through the trees. This EP pays homage to the simple joys in life, that we sometimes move too fast to recognize."

With just an acoustic guitar, vocals, and an honest and transparent heart, "The Sound of Trees" tells stories of separation, optimism, and attempts to live a life worth sharing. "The Sound of Trees" is only a small taste of things to come from Saige Cross.
